Blogger Facebooks
Can someone please explain to me what the point of having a Facebook account under your blog name is? I don’t get why people do that... if people want to talk to you, then they can email you or comment on a post. It’s not like people are putting up pictures or personal information on their Facebook. And all the information that’s in a Facebook profile can go on your blog profile. I’m not friends with any bloggers on Facebook, since I’m strictly only friends with people I actually know, so I’m not sure exactly what I’m missing out on, but I can’t imagine that it’s much.

If you were receiving threats because of the things you wrote then you would understand. Prior to becoming a popular blogger- I had my real facebook account then I received a threat from a backward source. Someone posted all of my information on Craigslist bashing me- and hence the blogger name.
Besides 99% of bloggers want to remain anonymous but Facebook is a great marketing tool. How in hells name is someone supposed to know my real name- MOST people do not read the profile stuff- in fact I have two different sets of fans- you tube and blog.
There are loads of other technical reasons- such as higher search engine ranking and SEO stuff but I wont bore you.
Oh and sometimes for shidduch back round check purposes its best not to reveal your other identity
i understand why bloggers wouldnt want their readers to know who they are, or be friends with them on their real facebook- but thats not the point. why have a blogger facebook at all? its not like ur going to be friends with any of ur real friends, cuz then theyll know who u r in ur blog. it just seems pointless
there are people who have a blogger facebook and they use it as their real one too,and are friends with both bloggers and real people.
then there are those that just have a facebook blog profile and friend random people to spread word about their blog.
But you see, this is my take on it, facebook is a social thing, it is online, and therefore not part of real life. So I don't mind adding people I don't know in real life/bloggers, because technically the people I know through blogging is from a online relationship, so to build that online relationship I communicate with them through facebook. It's fun to get to know people. Some people are very friendly.
Also, with the facebook friend list feature it's great, you can customize what every group of friends can see, so if you don't want the online friends seeing some personal stuff then you can just deny them the access, but still be their friend.
Plus facebook is more pleasant than regular e-mail, I usually get back to facebook messages before I get back to e-mails.
With comments on a blog, it's great if there's content to write about, but when you want to write about something that doesn't fit in with the post then it doesn't really make sense to be in a comment, so for that purpose facebook is useful.
It's all a marketing tactic. They feel like the more comments they get, the cooler they are. They're blog whores basically. :-P No offense to the three facebook-bloggers-who-use-their-blog-name-rather-than-their-real-name that I'm facebook friends with, but you know it's true.
lol jessica! yea, ur right
I use my facebook account for both real life friends and blogger. I do not accept friend requests randomly unless they sound normal.
You can friend me, tho.
so i sound normal?
Well you friended my blog facebook before I let you into my real one. Theres several reasons why, firstly, I've made friends through the blog, we can talk on facebook in a different way than just leaving a comment. Secondly, I'd rather most people I know in real life not know I blog. Thirdly, like Hesh said you can get some weirdos on the blog and you'd rather not let them find out who you are. Thats why my information is vague and the pics are photoshopped.
