Current events

Ever since I’ve been out of high school, I have no idea what’s going on in the world. I miss those days when I would sit in Ms. D’s history class and she would show us “some video” of what was on the news the night before. During the elections I was very informed, and actually knew what I was talking about when I discussed politics with people. This election I steer clear of any political conversations, in fear of sounding like a complete idiot. I have internet, and my family gets the newspaper delivered everyday, but I just don’t remember to look. It’s really horrible that I'm so out of touch with the events of the world. I'm so oblivious and unknowledgeable that it’s embarrassing! I always find out really important information weeks later from overhearing a conversation and then I'm like “huh?! How come no one told me?!” I always feel so uncultured, but really it’s my own fault. I am such a cliché; A Bais Yaakov girl who is completely ignorant about current events.

First of all nice new layout!

that's so cool that in HS your teacher showed you videos of current events.

I miss those days too, now the only news I read is VIN, which I only read the headlines, unless there's something interesting.

But through word of mouth the important stuff become known, so it's not so bad. You can make a whole discussion just from what people talk about without actually having researched anything yourself, and you can still sound smart.

About time you turned off moderation.

I know what you mean - on a recent date, I totally squashed any conversation about politics because I didn't want to sound like an utter moron. I have been soooo lazy about reading the news.
